Our database of information about owners, managers, and directors of skilled nursing homes is based primarily on data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Data Updates & Accuracy

CMS updates this information eleven times a year, typically at the end of each calendar month except for December. We pull the data as soon as it is available, run through a series of data checks and calculations, and make the new data available immediately.

Database Scope

The ownership data typically contains just over 155,000 records covering more than 45,000 individuals and companies that either own or manage skilled nursing homes. With over 15,000 nursing homes in our database, this suggests that most facilities have multiple owners or operators, and many individuals and companies are involved with more than one nursing home.

Ownership Categories

There are nine unique roles that are reported:

• 5% Or Greater Direct Ownership Interest
• 5% Or Greater Indirect Ownership Interest
• 5% Or Greater Mortgage Interest
• 5% Or Greater Security Interest
• Director
• Managing Employee
• Officer
• Operational/Managerial Control
• Partnership Interest
