A Review of the Data

Prepared by Richard Saunders as of February 21, 2024.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") distributes numerous tables of data on hospice organizations on a quarterly basis. That is a lot of information to pour through to try and build a comprehensive review of FHN HOSPICE. Luckily, we are here to help! I’ve put together this page to help you to get a better idea of what the hospital does, who is affiliated with it, share any patient survey data and much more. (If you want to jump to a specific section of the review, here are the section headers: General Hospital Data, Performance Data, Patient Survey Results, and Service Area.)

FHN HOSPICE: General Information

Hospice services are typically delivered at a facility or in home, so the physical address for FHN HOSPICE is not terribly important. What is important is to find an agency that serves the geopgraphic area where the patient is living and to find a hospice provider that is responsive to their needs.

Patient Survey Results for FHN HOSPICE

The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems ("CAHPS") Hospice Survey was designed to measure and assess the experiences of patients who died while receiving hospice care, as well as the experiences of their informal primary caregivers. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") developed the CAHPS Hospice Survey with input from many stakeholders, including other government agencies, industry stakeholders, consumer groups, and other key individuals and organizations involved in hospice care. (More information.)

Since the CAHPS Hospice Survey focuses on experiences of care, implementation of the survey supports the following national priorities for improving care: involving patients and families in care and promoting effective communication and coordination.

The standardized 47 question CAHPS Hospice Survey instrument is composed of the following measures: Communication with Family, Getting Timely Help, Treating Patient with Respect, Emotional and Spiritual Support, Help for Pain and Symptoms, Training Family to Care for Patient, Rating of this Hospice, and Willingness to Recommend this Hospice.

Higher Scores are better. Results are available on a facility basis. Averages for each state and for the nation are also available. Allf othis information is shown below.
