About the NursingHomeDatabase.com Skilled Nursing Database
Our database of information about skilled nursing homes is based primarily on data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid ("CMS"). CMS updates this information eleven times a year, typically at the end of each calendar month except for December. We pull the data as soon as it is available, run through a series of data checks and calculations and make the new data available right away.
The skilled nursing facility data includes more than 15,000 facilities located throughout the United States and its territories (such as Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands).
The data is based upon records submitted to CMS by the individual nursing homes. There is often a lag time between the reporting of a change and its appearance in our database.
